Thank you to everyone who attended our fund-raising party. Thanks to your donations, we are a lot closer to making this project a reality.
We have assembled a great team of film-makers to make Detour, but we still need your help to move this project from script to screen. Any contributions, large or small, are gratefully received.
There are several ways that you can support Detour: through a tax-deductible gift, an in-kind donation, or by investing in the project as an Executive Producer.
OPTION 1: A TAX-DEDUCTIBLE GIFT
The easiest way to become involved in Detour is to make a cash donation in the form of a gift. We have partnered with Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization, whose generous sponsorship means that donations are tax-deductible.
All donations will help us to make this project a reality, and your help will not go unrecognized. All donors will be kept up to date on milestones in production and screenings, at festivals or on television, after the film is completed. Your name will, of course, be listed with special thanks in the credits, and for donations of over $200 we will include your name prominently in a separate 'This Film Was Made Possible By' section.
Detour is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization. Contributions on behalf of Detour may be made payable to Fractured Atlas and are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
To make a donation:
- US residents can make a tax-deductible donation online through the Fractured Atlas website.

- Non-US residents can donate through PayPal UK
- Alternatively, you can send us a check in US dollars.
Please make your check payable to 'Fractured Atlas' and include 'Detour' in the memo line. Send your check to:

OPTION 2: AN IN-KIND DONATION
You can also help by donating non-monetary gifts to help with the production, including equipment, locations, or food / catering.
These gifts are also tax-deductible (with a few more rules). You will receive an in-kind contribution form from Fractured Atlas as a confirmation of your donation.
OPTION 3: INVESTING AS AN EXECUTIVE PRODUCER
Financing a film is a risky business, and most short films never break even. However, it is possible for a successful short to make its money back and even to turn a profit through DVD deals and sales of broadcast rights in the various broadcast territories, to broadcasters such as IFC, HBO, Channel 4 in the UK and Canal+ in France.
Investors come on to the project as Executive Producers, and will be credited as such. They are entitled to a share of net profit which reflects their share of the investment in the film's production costs.
Investors are not able to qualify for the charitable tax deduction on their investment, though if the film does not turn a profit you may file the contribution as an investment loss the year after the investment is made.
If you would be intersted in becoming an Executive Producer, please contact us for more information.
