After ten years in New York, Joseph feels trapped: trapped in his job, trapped in his life, and trapped in the city. But a chance encounter with Anna, herself a recent immigrant, makes him realize that escape - for both of them - might be possible after all.

Detour is the latest short film from Iranian-born British director and award-winning writer Bobby Webster, and is his thesis project at NYU’s prestigious graduate film program. Set over one night in the life of a Nigerian car-service driver, it explores themes of isolation in the city that never sleeps - and the possibilities that emerge when, against the odds, two people can make a connection.

The film will be shooting on the streets of New York in October 2009.
